Don Mills For Congress issued the following announcement on Feb.12.
100 Years. 36 States. 1 Artist’s Journey.
In 2020 America celebrates the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which opened the door to give women the right to vote.
Join us at the historic Old State Capitol on Wednesday, February 12th, for a celebration called Her Flag. Artist Marilyn Artus is traveling across the nation sewing a giant collaborative art flag, stripe by stripe, and state by state. Kentucky was the 23rd state to ratify the Amendment. The 23rd stripe sewn onto Her Flag was designed Kentucky artist Linda Erzinger, and will be sewn onto the flag at the live event that includes a performance by the Women’s Suffrage Centennial Chorus.
The celebration will take place at the Old State Capitol-House of Representatives Chamber located at 300 W. Broadway, Frankfort, KY 40601 at 12:00 PM.
